Back to University

Well, I’m well-and-truly back at University now, after the fairly longish winter break. This has been pretty good so far, as I get to see all my friends again, don’t have to do so much part time work, and the courses are pretty good this term.

It all started pretty badly on Monday though when I waited half an hour for a Silverlink train, only for them to announce that the whole line was suspended and customers were ’strongly advised to seek alternative routes’. This meant catching the bus, which took ages. So I ended up missing my first and only lecture of the day (at 3PM). Not good.

One of my lecturers has done his usual trick of recommending us to buy his own sociolinguistics book, but it actually looks quite interesting.

Looking forward, I’ve actually got very few exams this year, which means for tons of time off over the summer! So I’m going to try and get an interesting job or find a nice project to work on. Ideas on a postcard to…
