Interesting idea about getting people to add other connections. One thing we're planning on doing is linking to Wikipedia pages, where people can find out more about the person. I think generally the best approach with other connections would be to link out to related resources - otherwise we might end up becoming a repository of all kinds of information! A thought came to me, seeing your example of William Strang. Can you allow users to add knowledge to each plaque page, e.g. other locations you can visit related to Strang. I was thinking of the Strang Print Rooms at UCL and Strang prints in the British Museum etc etc? It helps people make connections, and make their own trails.
