Band With A Bad Name
Update: This gig was a really early Ordinary Boys gig, played to a crowd largely consisting of music journos. I never imagined then that they would have gone on to achieve such mainstream success, although they were clearly being heavily promoted by their record company. (added 2008-01-26)
Went to the Ordinary Boys last night at the 100 Club on Oxford Street. Didn’t think they were amazing - sounded pretty much like loads of other indie-rock bands. A lot better than the support band though, who were simply dire, playing their first two songs with the sound balanced so badly you couldn’t hear any vocals, just the thump of guitars and a drummer, and with half their songs consisting of one syllable repeated: na na na nana na nana…

My biggest problem with The Ordinary Boys is that they have such a bad name…
