A simple campaign perhaps, but good going [website now dead] aims to increase awareness of the benefits of sustainable forms of transport. Starting out as a Tower Hamlets scheme, and now London-wide with the support of Transport for London, the initiative will be running events, handing out resources, and asking people to pledge their support.
You can pledge your support on their website, by filling out a simple form. The pledge is simply to ‘walk, cycle, and use public transport, when possible, and car share, or use low-pollution vehicles, when this is an option’, which is fairly weak (‘I pledge to never use my car in central London except when absolutely unavoidable would have been better’).
I was only the 32nd person to have taken the pledge, which is a pretty low figure, but then the campaign has only just gotten started (most of the website isn’t even there yet). Once you pledge, they will send you a good going loyalty card, which gives you access to some as yet unspecified special offers. They also promise to hold some ‘regular ‘lottery style’ prize draws’ for cardholders, and will, of course, add you to their mailing list.
Still, it’s a good scheme, so go pledge.
