I’m shattered. I spent all of today at uni sorting out stuff for Rare FM, the college radio station. Tomorrow and Friday is Freshers Fayre – the big event where 6000 students turn up to see what clubs and societies have to offer. In preparation, we’ve had flyers printed (though the Union apparently only have the capabilities to print 500 A5 copies for us, so we may have to quickly get more photocopied). We’re also re-using some old flyers from the FM license last year, with a sticker on each one proclaiming ‘returning on FM in 2005 – broadcasting online all year’). I printed the stickers off last night (2500 of them, though 10% of the pages came out wrong as the printer never printed in the same place twice), and so we’ve spent some of today sticking all those on.
We’ve also tested that the broadcasting into the union works. It does, just, but it’s not all that loud in some of the bars. The sound travels from the studio to the bars via the internet, but I’m told the bottleneck is the 3.5mm headphone jack output on the computer feeding the PA system.
Claire, Fiona and I went through our CD collection in preparation for our broadcasting in the union tomorrow. I had to buy another CD wallet, so together with the old wallet we’ll have over 500 singles with us (reorganising that was another task).
Finally, I took the chance to catch up with some friends in the linguistics department and to see what everyone had done over the summer (not a lot, mostly).
Still to do tonight is to print off our logo onto T-shirt transfer sheets and iron them onto T-shirts so that we’re all nice and visible at the stall tomorrow. Better get on with it then…

I see Uni print services haven’t sped up much since I was using them. Good luck.

No. They don’t seem to know how to use the ‘toner’ button either – a friend’s flyers came out so black that you couldn’t read the writing (admittedly it was grey on black, but still…)
