UCL Union's New Arts Officer
Yesterday I was elected as UCL Union's Arts Officer for this year. The election took place at the first Arts Board meeting of the term, and I beat another candidate by 6 votes to 3. The position means that I represent the Arts societies (which includes Rare FM) at Activities Board and at the UCL Union Council. Incidentally, I had already nominated myself for another position on UCL Union Council, so this other nomination was automatically withdrawn.
Immediately after Arts Board ended, the first Theatre Users Sub-Committee meeting of the year started, and so as the newly-elected Arts Officer I chaired this meeting, which was a bit odd. Still, it all seemed to run itself. I think I will also be chairing the Film Studio Sub-Committee, but I'm not yet sure.
This all means that the only place I will be standing for in the forthcoming UCL Union General Election will be NUS Delegate. In the Declaration of Nominations today, it was announced that there is an unbelievable 25 people standing for the 14 NUS Delegate places (plus RON of course). So, the places will be highly contested. I hastily bashed out a manifesto to meet the 5PM deadline.
Comments or questions by UCL students welcome.
