I'd love to agree with Stephen but I'm not that impressed with the StarLogic player. I know it only cost £20, and it does do something, but what a nightmare of a control system.

Currently I'm totally stuck in some mode whereby I can only hear the production team and cast rattle on about how they made the film. No combination of button presses seems to take me back to simply watching the film. Is the user manual any use ? I think not. I'm where Frankie started this thing off. Any ideas anyone ?

Doesn't make the 2nd criteria and I've only had a few days, but I just bought this one from Amazon's for £29.95. Like you, I put the sound through my stereo. It's small and does exactly what it says on the tin.
<a href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0002LHXBG/ukcider-21" rel="nofollow">Starlogic Multi-region 2.1 DVD Player</a>
