Diefenbach

My friend Alison has been on about the band Diefenbach for a while. They’re from Denmark (a country she’s obsessed with), and she knows them pretty well. She gave me a demo a while back and I thought it was okay, but nothing too fantastic.

Apparently though, they’re getting quite a bit of press at the moment. They were featured on teletext recently, I’m told, and have recently appeared on BBC Collective (a great site that I’ve wasted hours on).

Their album, ‘Run Trip Fall’ is out now on The Wall of Sound. I actually went along to their album launch party a while back at The Legion in Old St, and although I didn’t actually stay for their set (I had another gig to rush off to), the band seemed like nice guys and they were signed to Wall of Sound soon after.

It’s about time you mentioned it! They’ve been getting some REALLY good reviews over here as well. BTW, it’s Wall Of Sound’s more indie outlet We Love You that’s released it, and a 10″ EP. I think it grows with repeated listens (though I’m always somewhat nonchalant to them about it all, I’m thrilled to bits), but The Blue Room on Radio 1 seem to have picked up on it. I’m 90% sure that the late, great John Peel may have played them too.

IT WASN’T A DEMO I GAVE YOU! It was a copy of the album just relesed here (it was released in Dk in Summer 2003)You also neglected to mention that I get a thank you in it- more than enough reason to go and buy it! Oh, and I’m really sorry I was so horrible to you that night. But I’m sure I’ve said that before.

The moral of the story? Sometimes you should let people you don’t know sleep on your floor, as you never know where they might be nearly 3 years later…

    Giu!
