Ken Livingstone has invited publishers to bid for the rights to distribute an afternoon freesheet on the tube, the BBC reports.
This is a genius piece of money-making. Everyone likes the Metro, money gets raised for tube improvements, and it's a chance to smother complaints over the 'monopoly' of the exclusive Metro tube distribution deal.
Let's just hope that someone other than Associated Newspapers (which includes the Metro and the Evening Standard) gets the deal...
