Where Has ‘Chappers’ Gone From Radio 1?

I have no idea what the answer to this question is, but judging from my recent webstats, it’s a hot question, with 188 people arriving at my site after searching for the answer (and then failing to find it).

So, if anyone knows where, and why, he’s gone (if, indeed, he has left), please leave a comment here for all those fans out there who are mystified.

The search phrases people have been entering would suggest that the answer might have something to do with the Radio 1 Christmas party. The plot thickens…

Update:

It looks like the rumour started here, with a page on the Radio 1 website claiming that ‘after the departure of Chappers following an incident at the Radio 1 Staff Party, Cilla [Black] will take over his duties as of Monday’. Clearly a bit of a joke, but it looks like it fooled quite a few listeners…
