SOAS elects Ken Livingstone as Honorary President

SOAS Students' Union has passed a motion at an Extraordinary General Meeting to elect London mayor Ken Livinstone as its first honorary president, the BBC reports. The motion lists some of the work that Ken has done to fight racism and fascism (and top-up fees), and notes that he has been at the receiving end of an "unfair and totally biased media campaign aimed at discrediting his attempts at encouraging unity and diversity in London".

Congratulations to SOAS Union for taking this step. It's nice to see students unions playing a positive part in London issues.
