The dudes at Robot Co-Op (or ‘coop’ as I sometimes mis-read the URL) have ‘acquired’ the lists of bests website. I didn’t know of the Lists of Bests website before, but I like the tongue-in-cheekness of the announcement:
“Yahoo! has been making the news as of late with its acquisitions of all the great Web 2.0 newness. First there was Flickr, then upcoming.org, then del.icio.us, and now… no, not the Robot Co-op. Instead, we decided to pull a switcheroo and acquire something of our own, and we did right under Yahoo!’s nose.”
The Robot Co-Op are the people behind the ’43′ websites (the 43 things/places/people websites that is, they haven’t got 43 websites – yet), and so the lists of bests, which contained lists of books/films/etc is quite a nice fit within their overall framework. In some ways it’s a bit too much of a fit, replicating some of their other sites, but it has its own culture too, from what I can tell. It’s pretty ‘meta’ though.
Anyhow, the robots have given me a sneaky-peek at their new version of the lists of bests site – so we’ll have to see how it develops…
