I can't quite remember how I stumbled across this, but I thought I'd put out a quick charity appeal on behalf of the Royal Parks. These chaps do a right royal job on looking after some of the best parks in London, and so why not support their work by adopting (broken link) something from their parks?
You can adopt trees, deer, green woodpeckers, roses, ducks and stag beetles. Yes, stag beetles. Annual adoption comes at the staggeringly cheap price of £50 per deer, £45 per, £25 per woodpecker, £15 per rose (that's a single rose - there's no price quoted for a whole bush of them), £15 per duck, and finally the stag beetle also comes in at £15. What's more, lifetime adoption costs the same as just ten years worth of annual adoptions. Although as stag beetles only have a lifespan of 4-6 years, most of which is as a pupae underground, that's not exactly great value for money.
