Today is Peace One Day day. I watched the documentary behind this a year or so ago, and found it hugely inspiring. Man-on-a-mission Jeremy Gilley managed to get a resolution passed by the United Nations, reviving a long-forgotten peace day and setting it as a single date every year (September 21st) and a day of ceasefire.
I'm not sure if any ceasefires have actually happened because of it, but even so, the event and concept is a nice idea. Jeremy suggested too that it wasn't just about having peace one day a year, but was a campaign to try and bring about greater peace, with the 'one day' aspect of it being a campaigning tool.
So peace, man!
