The Independent reports today that Sicily is paving the way for a £420m theme park project. The development is apparently 'one signature away' from getting the go-ahead, with the local authorities said to be putting up 20% of the investment.
If all goes to plan, the park will open in 2009. No firm plans have been announced about what the attractions will be yet, except for some vague plans about building replicas of the Colosseum, the Eiffel Tower, the Tower of Pisa and the Egyptian pyramids, which sound slightly fanciful. The only thing that's certain, The Independent suggests, is that the weather will generally be excellent.
Sounds interesting, and I'll have to follow the development somehow.
