Digital Media Initiative what?

The BBC have announced a Digital Media Initiative, via their BBC Backstage network.

Sounds a bit expensive, and dangerously vague to me, so I hope someone’s driving it who knows what they’re doing. I hope it’s not just optimistically praying for a magic-bullet third-party CMS solution to come along and revolutionise BBC content production…
