more about Own-it: their web page on http://tinyurl.com/taxpayer-money seems to be a big plug for the Chinese way of making things rather than others. Funding details on http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/funding_of_making_it_ethically_i#comment-4968

Hi own-it,

Thanks for your comment, and for pointing to your Share-it page, which contains some useful pointers (though you might want to consider updating the Creative Archive information, as that project is more or less a dead duck, from what I can tell).

As to the contradiction between employer and employee interests, I agree that there's a potential conflict there, but was just surprised that you didn't seem to be advocating a sensible middle ground, but rather an 'every man for himself' kind of attitude.

Thanks for the mention.
Own-it has over 17,000 members from the creative industry sector. We aim to advise and guide on IP and business operations, whatever the creative sector, whatever the issue, and whatever the employment status.

Talking of employment, it may seem contradictory, but the employer, employee and freelancer will actually have opposing IP clauses and claims and different objectives when it comes to IP ownership. Confusing maybe, but that's employment contracts for you.

Own-it also covers all the different ways that creatives can work with their IP including giving it away. That's why we have a section on the Own-it site called "Share-it" www.own-it.org/ipinfo/ipinfo_shareit/
Own-it also has a rolling programme of events on open source, alternative rights management systems and new business models for creative content providers.

Happy to have more suggestions on what else you would like from Own-it,

The Own-it team.
