Ditching the Dust Jackets

June 24, 2009, 11:55 pm

I’ve been thinking a bit about books lately. Partly because I’ve actually been starting to read them again (I tend to go through phases). I was musing through my bookshelves this evening, and decided to put all the hard backs on one shelf.  Nearly all of my books are paperbacks (I’m one of those cheapskates [...]

Movie Posters

September 17, 2008, 9:47 pm

There’s something that’s bugging me every day on the commute to work. As I approach the train station, at about 7:30am each morning, I have to walk past this set of posters advertising railcards: Naff eh? What they’re advertising is pretty worthwhile. I’ve always had a ‘Young Person’s Railcard’ (now bizarrely renamed ’16-25 railcard’ – [...]

Banner adverts

November 15, 2006, 5:55 pm

It’s not my normal role at work, but I quite enjoyed making these quick banner adverts for some events at the Dana Centre, seen here on the Dim Sum website. Technically, the one at the top is the banner ad, and the one on the right is called a ‘skyscraper’, and although I didn’t realise [...]

Complaints against Bendy Bus Adverts

May 11, 2005, 11:06 am

What a nonsense. Who finds the time to complain about this kind of stuff? Bendy buses are obviously quicker to board than routemasters because they have three doors not one.

Bus Shelters That Sing Carols To You

November 30, 2004, 10:33 am

The daft story of the day is the introduction of 10 ‘homely’ bus shelters for Christmas shoppers, with heating, interactive motion-sensor elements, and speakers that play out Christmas carols (just in case you haven’t had enough of the Christmas fever already). An idea this daft could only be the work of a PR team desperate [...]

TV Screens on Buses

October 3, 2004, 7:48 pm

I was travelling on a 134 bus from Kentish Town to Euston the other day, and was suprised to see a flat-screen LCD TV screen installed at the front of the top floor of the bus. The screen rotated from displaying images live from the CCTV cams (which was a bit disconcerting for the people [...]

Black Friday Cometh

This advert intrigued me. Which is probably the idea.
